The PORT TOWNSEND SCHOONER CO. is striving to preserve a maritime lifestyle that has been gradually disappearing since the invention of the steam engine. Marlinespike Seamanship is alive and thriving aboard Pleiades. We utilize pine tar and rope work. Pleiades carries a traditional bosun’s chair…ever swing from the fore boom? We know exactly what baggywrinkles are and why we need them. Pleiades is even rigged with dead-eyes and lanyards.
                             

Sailing aboard Pleiades, however, does not mean you will meet the Bosun’s rope end or be pressed into service with nothing but hard tack and salt pork for reward. As a guest aboard Pleiades, you have the choice to become as involved in the working of the ship as you please; raise a sail and take the helm, or lay back and let the world slip away. We can happily arrange a local eatery to cater the affair as well.  

If even for just a two-hour sail you feel as if Pleiades is your schooner and the watery world your playground, we have achieved our goals. It is the Captain’s belief that such opportunities should be available to both locals and visitors of Port Townsend, and available at a fair price.
